Essential Oils for Beginners
Have you ever wanted a holistic way to take care of yourself and your family? Are you tired of putting chemical-filled over-the-counter and prescription medications into your body?
Then now is the time for you to learn about and get started with essential oils. Nature’s natural support for your health. It is never too late to take a better approach to your health.
When I Started Using Essential Oils
When I started using essential oils my son was 2 years old. I didn’t start using them because he was always sick but because I wanted a natural way to support his tiny body when he did eventually get a sickness.
Just the thought of giving him those chemical-filled medications made me so nervous. This was around the time when there was news about a few small children dying from ingesting Children’s Tylenol. Needless to say my anxiety went in to full gear.
I had already switched over to natural cleaning products, so now I needed to switch to natural alternatives for our health.
Not only did I want these natural solutions for my son but I also wanted them for my husband and myself.
What are Essential Oils
Essential oils are naturally occurring volatile aromatic compounds found in multiple parts of plants, such as the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts.
They are highly fragrant and are what give plants their smell. You can also find use for them in food, beauty products, and healthcare support.
How to Use Essential Oils
There are 3 main ways that you can use essential oils. Topically, aromatically, and internally.
This is the most popular way of using essential oils.
They are easily absorbed through the skin and in most cases you can see relief in about 20 minutes. The best way to apply essential oils is with Fractionated Coconut Oil to help reduce any skin sensitivity and to help increase absorption.
If you have dry skin I would highly recommend you use Fractionated Coconut Oil with your essential oils.
Areas you can apply your essential oils are back of neck, bottoms of feet, forehead and temples, reflexology points, chest, and abdomen.
DO NOT ever put essential oils in the eyes or in the ears!
If you are new to using essential oils always start with 1 or 2 drops at a time when starting out. You can repeat application every 4-6 hours as needed.
I love essential oils because you can mix and match the oils to make very unique blends.
Essential oils can be used aromatically with a diffuser and you get the same effective benefits.
There are many other ways to use oils aromatically.
Apply a few drops of oil to a cotton ball and place in a drawer, garbage can, vent, etc.
Fill a spray bottle with your desired essential oils and spray it around the room for a refreshing air freshener, spray the furniture to help with any smells, or spray on your sheets for a relaxing nights sleep.
Add a few drops to a load of laundry in the washing machine and add a drop to a dryer sheet. Make your own DIY all-purpose cleaner with your desired oils.
This is a very safe and effective way to get the awesome benefits of the oils. They directly enter the bloodstream by way of the gastrointestinal tract and can be used as dietary supplements for more targeted health benefits.
Uses for essential oils internally include cooking and baking, water, smoothies, or other drinks. Another way to take them is with a veggie capsule or add to soft foods such as applesauce or yogurt.
Always follow the directions on the oil bottles for proper dosage amount. Also, not all oils can be taken internally. This is where you should always read the oil bottles.
